Directions:
The Peter Deitz Farm Burying Ground is on private property of the owners of 2032 Helderberg Trail (State Rte. 443) between the hamlets of Berne and West Berne. It is in a cluster of hemlocks on a knoll above the bank of Fox Creek, behind and just east of the barn opposite the house 250 yards west of Rte. 44 just beyond pasture fence. 45 by 14 feet, unfenced. This small, abandoned burying ground is overgrown with trees and undergrowth. There are 5 normal sized stones with writing plus 4 small stones had no
writing - infants?). All writing faces east. There are several downed stones, and perhaps more buried in the underbrush. Owner stated it was vandalized circa 1974. Burials 1812-1853.
We need GPS coordinates.
