Last Will and Testament of William Flansburgh 

written 22 September, 1820; dated 22 March, 1821


In the name of God Amen: I William Flansburg of the town of
Bern in the county of Albany and State of New York farmer, being far advanced
in years, but sound in mind and memory blessed be almighty God
for the same and knowing the uncertainty of this mortal life
Do make this my last will and testament in manner following
First: I give my soul to God and my body to the earth to be decently
burrid.
I give and bequeth to my loving wife Jamima all sums of money
that I shall have by me and due to me in Notes of hand or in 
book accounts, allso one cow three sheep and all such beds and 
bedding and household furniture and every kind of goods, and 
affects brought with her to my house, and also all such articles 
as have been bought, by either of us and brought to my house and
all such as hath been made since she became my wife, and her 
dowery right to my real estate, 
And to my son Matthew I give and bequeath to him his heirs and 
assigns all my wearing apparel also all my horses, waggons, sleghs, 
Ploughs, Drags, chaines, and all kinds of farming utensils that I 
posses. And to my daughters Mary, Elizabeth and Eve, and there 
respective heirs and assigns I give and bequeath all my household 
furniture which I possed at the time I was married to the above 
named Jamima. And I will and bequeath to my son John his heirs 
and assigns for ever All my real estate provided that he shall pay within 
four years after my death to my my son Matthew his heirs or assigns fifty 
six dollars and twenty five cents, and to my daughters Mary, Elizabeth 
and Eve their heirs or assigns the sum of fifty six Dollars and twenty 
five cents to each of them, and to my daughter Lena her heirs or assigns 
twenty five Dollars, but providing any of the above named Matthew 
Mary, elizabeth, Eve and Lena shall not aplay for the said money 
within seven years after my death then that part or parts not aplied 
for shall be equally divided amongst those that hath aplyed. And 
I give and bequeath unto my daughter Cornilea her heirs or assigns 
fifty six Dollars and twenty five cents tobe paid out of the notes of 
hand due to me if aplied for as above, if not to be divided as above 
And I give and bequeath my three granchildren of my son John to wit 
Christina, William and Storm twelve Dollars and one half each to be 
paid out of my notes of hand or book account - providing there shall 
be still left not less than one hundred Dollars to my beloved wife Jamima. 
And I do hereby apoint Jacobus Van Deusen, and James D Gardner both 
of the aforesaid town of Ber the sole executors of this my last will and 
testament, hereby revoking all former wills and testaments by me made 
and reasonable charges paid out of my notes or book accounts to said 
executors for theur service. In witness whereunto I have herewith set my 
hand and seal this twenty second day of September in the year of 
our lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty.

Albany county SS. Be it remembered that on the twenty second day of March 
in the years of our lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one personally 
appeared before me Abraham Ten Eyck Jun surrogate of the county of Albany 
aforesaid Jacobus Van deusen and James D Gardner two of the subscribing 
witnesses to the will of William Flansburgh late of the town of Bern in the 
said county deceased, who being duly sworn declared that they did see the 
said William Flansburgh deceased seal and execute the instrument hereunto 
annexed, and impressed with the seal of office of the said surrogate, which said 
instrument purports to be the last will and testament of the said William Flans
burgh desceased bearing date the twenty second day of September in the year 
of our lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty, that they heard him the
said William Flansburgh publish and declare the same, as and for his last
will and testament: that at the time thereof he the said William Flansburgh
was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best knowledge and belief
of them the said Jacobus Van Deusen and James D Gardner and that they
together with Peter Harrower the other witness to the said will did severally
subscribe their names thereunto as witnesses in the presence of the testater and of
each other - In testimony whereof the said surrogate hath hereunto set his
hand and affixed his seal of office this twenty second day of March in the year
of our lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one

Be it also remembered that on the twenty second day of March in the
year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one personally appeared
before me the said surrogate Jacobus Van Deusen and james D Gardner executors
in the aforesaid Will named, and being duly sworn to the faithful performance
and execution thereof by taking the usual Oath in that case provided -

The People of the State of New York by the grace of God free and independent
To all to whom these presents shall come or may concern Send Greeting.
Know Ye that at the city of Albany in the county of Albany on the twenty
second day of March in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and
twenty one before me Abraham Ten Eyck Jun esquire surrogate of our said county
the last will and testament of William Flansburgh deceased/ a copy whereof
is hereunto annexed/ was proved, and is now approved and allowed of by
us: and the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his
death, goods, chattels or credits within this state by means whereof the proving
the administration of all and singular the goods, chattels and 
credits of the said deceased, and any way concerning his will is
granted unto Jacobus Van Duesen and James D Gardner executors
in the said will named, they being first duly sworn well and faithful

to administer the same, and to make and exhibit a true and perfect
inventory of all and singular the said goods, chattels and credits
and also to render a just and true account thereof when thereunto
required: In testimony whereof we have caused the seal of office of our
said Surrogate to be hereunto affixed. witness abraham Ten eyck Jun
esquire Surrogate of the said county at the city of Albany aforesaid
the twenty second day of March in the year of our lord one thousand
eight hundred and twenty one and of our Independence the forty
