I Jacob Engle of the Town of Knox in the County of Albany and State of New York being of sound mind and memory blessed be Almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last will and testament in the manner and form following. That is to say - First I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth a good and comfortable support and maintenance in sickness and in health and all things comfortable and convenient for her during her natural life with the privilege of in my dwelling house the same as she now enjoys and I likewise give to my said wife Elizabeth two good milch cows as she may choose for her own during her natural life and at her death one of the said cows to belong to Maria Mattice and the other to Anna Schoonmaker daughter of Peter Schoonmaker. Second, I give and bequeath to my son Christian the use of the land he now occupies supposed to contain five acres be the same more or less during his natural life and so long as he lives upon the same and at his death or when ever he shall move off from said land with his family the said land then to belong to my two sons David and John to their heirs and assigns forever. I likewise give to my son Christian sufficient firewood for fuel off of the farm on which I now reside during his natural life or so long as he shall reside on the above mentioned premises. I will order that my sons David and John furnish and provide one acre of corn ground yearly and every year for my son Christian during his natural life or so long as he shall occupy the above granted premises. My two sons David and John to furnish my son Christian with team plough for tilling said acre of land from year to year and the said acre of land to be in the same field and of as good quality as they my sons David and John shall plant themselves provided at any time hereafter my son Christian should wish to build a new house that then my two sons David and John are to furnish him with such timber and boards as can be provided at the saw mill sufficient for a house not exceeding in size twenty five feet by eighteen and furnish him with apples sufficient for his familys use yearly. Third, I give and bequeath to my two sons David and John to them their heirs and assigns forever all the residue of my real estate lying and being in the said Town of Knox or elsewhere consisting of at present of the farm on which I now reside together with all my personal property goods or chattels household furniture bonds notes book accounts and all other my personal property of whatever name or nature to them my two sons David and John their heirs and assigns forever. Forth I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Sophia Engle the same amount of household furniture as I have given to her sister Betsy Chapman as soon as she shall marry or as soon as she arrives to the age of twenty one years to be furnished by my two sons David and John each as equal part and lastly I do hereby appoint Johannes Saddlemire & Christian Schoonmaker executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made in witness where of I have here unto set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of May A.D. 1831 Sealed Signed and Published and declared by the above named Jacob Engle
to be his last will and testament in presence of us who have hereinto
subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the testator and
of each other - County of Albany Surrogate Court in the matter of proving the will of
the real estate of Jacob Engle deceased Albany SS. Erastus Williams of
the Town of Knox in said county being first duly sworn deposeth and saith
that he saw Jacob Engle deceased subscribe the instrument now shown to
the deponent and which perports to be the last will and testament of Jacob
Engle late of the Town of Knox in said county deceased bearing date the
nineteenth day of May in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred
and thirty one that he heard said Jacob Engle declare the same to be his
last will and testament and that he this deponent did subscribe his name
thereto as a witness at the request of the said Jacob Engle and further
that at the time there of the said Jacob Engle was of sound mind and memory,
of full age, and and not under any restraint and further saith not. Sworn before me this 30th day of January 1832. County of Albany Surrogate Court in the matter of proving the will of
the real estate of Jacob Engle deceased Albany SS. John Swart of the Town
of Knox in said county being first duly sworn deposeth and saith that
he saw Jacob Engle deceased subscribe the instrument now shown to the
deponent and which perports to be the last will and testament of Jacob
Engle late of the Town of Knox in said county deceased bearing date the
nineteenth day of May in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred
and thirty one that he heard said Jacob Engle declare the same to be his
last will and testament and that he this deponent did subscribe his name
thereto as a witness at the request of the said Jacob Engle and further
that at the time there of the said Jacob Engle was of sound mind and memory,
of full age, and not under any restraint and further saith not. Sworn before me this 30th day of January 1832. County of Albany I Anthony Blanchard Surrogate of the County of Albany to hereby certify the preceding to be a true record of the last will and testament of Jacob Engle deceased and of the proofs and examinations of the subscribing witnesses taken in relation thereto.
