Proved and recorded Feb. 26th 1856 as a will of both real and personal estate.
In the name of God Amen
I Alexander Campbell, of the town of Bern, County of Albany and State of New
York of the age of 58 or nearly and being of sound mind and memory, do make,
publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner following: that
is to say First, I direct that my well beloved wife Elisabeth Campbell shall
have her support keeping as she shall remain my widow as provided hereafter.
Secondly I give and bequeath to my daughter Jane Campbell the sum of one hundred
dollars. To my daughter Eliza Campbell, the sum of one hundred dollars. To my
daughter Cynthia Campbell, the sum of one hundred dollars. To my daughter Salome
Campbell, the sum of seventy five dollars. To my daughter Charity Campbell the
sum of twenty five dollars, which said sums or legacies, I direct and order
to be paid to the above named Legatees within five years after my decease, by
my son Matthia Campbell, now residing in the town of Broome, County of Schoharie,
State of New York. Also I give and bequeath to my son Joseph Campbell the sum
of one hundred dollars, said legacy to be paid to said Joseph by Peter Campbell
within two years after my decease. Thirdly, I give and devise to my son Matthias
Campbell, aforesaid, his heirs and assigns all my right, title and interest
in that certain tract or parcel of land situated and being in the town of Broome,
in the County of Schoharie, State of New York on which he now resides, containing
about 84 acres, provided that he the said Matthias Campbell shall within five
years after my decease, duly and faithfully pay to the above named Jane, Eliza
& Cynthia the sum of one hundred dollars to each. To the above named Salome,
the sum of seventy five dollars and to the above named Charity the sum of twenty
five dollars as aforesaid made and provided. Fourthly I give and devise to my
son Peter Campbell aforesaid his heirs and assigns, all my right title and interest
in that certain tract or parcel of land, situate and being in the town of Bern
in the County of Albany, State of New York, which I purchased of Read Rowe on
which Peter Campbell now resides containing about 66 acres, provided the said
Peter shall duly and faithfully pay to the aforesaid Joseph Campbell the sum
of one hundred dollars within two years after my decease as before provided.
Also said Peter shall pay all the little claims or debts now existing against
me of which he knows the most of. Said Peter shall have the use and proceeds
of all the grain not needed to support the family on the Homestead to be used
in liquidating said debts. Fifthly, I give and devise to my sons William and
Harvey aforesaid their heirs and assigns, all my right, title and interest in
that certain tract or parcel of land lying situate and being in the town of
Bern, County of Albany, State of New York in which I have and do now reside,
known as the Homestead farm, containing about one hundred and fourteen acres
provided that they do take, keep, support, maintain and do faithfully provide
for my wife Elisabeth Campbell during her natural life or so long as she shall
remain my widow. Also that they permit and allow the aforesaid Peter Campbell
to get all his necessary firewood from off their premises or said Lot and also
that they deliver to the said Peter all the grain not necessary for the support
of the family to be used as before named and applied to the payment of any and
all debts and claims now existing against me until all such debts or claims
are extinguished after which the aforesaid Harvey and William to have the whole
proceeds of said land. Sixthly, I do give and bequeath to my sons William and
Harvey all the rest, residue and remainder of my personal estate, goods and
chattels of what value or kind so ever. And Lastly, I do hereby nominate and
appoint my sons Matthias and Peter Campbell to be the executors of this my last
will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 27th day of August
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three.
The above instrument consisting of one sheet of paper was at the date thereof,
signed, sealed, published and declared by the said Alexander Campbell as and
for his last will and testament in presence of us who at his request and in
his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as
witness thereto.

William Willson and Willson Wood of Bern in the county of Albany being first
duly sworn in open court do depose and say and each for himself deposeth and
saith that he is a subscribing witness to the instrument now shown to him purporting
to be the last will and testament of Alexander Campbell of the town of Bern
in the County of Albany. That the said Alexander Campbell did in the presence
of this deponent subscribe his name at the end of the instrument which is now
shown and exhibited to theis deponent as aforesaid and which purports to be
the last will and testament of the said Alexander Campbell and which dears date
on the 27th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and fifty three. And this deponent further saith that the said Alexander Campbell
the said testator did at the said time of subscribing his name as aforesaid
at the end of the said will, declare the said instrument is so subscribed and
now exhibited to be his last will and testament; and this deponent did thereupon
subscribe his name at the end of the said will as an attesting witness thereto
and at the request of the said testator. And this deponent further saith that
at the said time when the said testator subscribed his name to the said last
will as aforesaid and at the time of the deponents subscribing his name as an
attesting witness thereto as aforesaid. The said Alexander Campbell was of sound
mind and to the knowledge, information or belief of this deponent. And further
these deponents say not.
