After the success of the first Berne
Heritage Days on Labor Day Weekend, plans are progressing well for
the next celebration. An agenda
for the July 18, 19, and 20th event has been posted on the website.
We would like to ask anyone planning to attend to complete a new
survey form to help us with the planning.
Recent additions to the website
The Berne Heritage Days 2003 agenda is now on the site and ready to be viewed. Part of the Berne Heritage Days 2003 celebration will be the Heritage Homes & Garden Tours with some homes being featured in the Heritage Homes Project .... We want to welcome two new coordinators - Glen Swartz GlSwartz@aol.com is our Revolutionary War Coordinator. He is creating a separate web page to document each Berne area man in the Revolutionary War. Anyone having information and documentation of their Berne area relatives are urged to contact him. Guy Lounsbury geljal@nycap.rr.com is our Civil War Coordinator. He is creating a separate web page to document each Berne area man in the Civil War. Anyone having information and documentation of their Berne area relatives are urged to contact him ..... Alan Dietz transcribed and submitted the fascinating 1862 George Warner diary that precedes the 1863 George Warner diary that was already on the site. The diary was recently featured in a Times Union newspaper article ... Barry & Terry Schinnerer have submitted a photo of the Berne Brass Band, if anyone has any information about this group please contact us at webmaster@bernehistory.org

Name: margaret(peggy) dunman Comments: Great job, so many people i know or knew. really enjoy viewing this site. i have been interested in genealogy for many years and know how much work you all have done. thank you, thank you. peggy dunman.
Name: Judith Armstrong Comments: Wonderful site! I'm searching for additional information
on John Armstrong (wife Johanna), died Dec l814 in Berne. Names in
my husband Roger Armstrong's family include Wood, Ostrander, Clykeman,
Hill, Williams, Williamson, Schrader, Scrafford, Torrey, Leake. They
clustered around Berne, Knox and other Albany Cty sites. This site
is a goldmine. Congratulations to all the folk who have done an enormous
amount of work.
Name: Ned Pratt Comments: What a great project. Is there a section on historic buildings
and roads?
Name: Jean M Foster Comments: What a great web site! I've been searching for months for
information about my gggrandfather, Rev. John Cannon Van Liew, and
today I found all kinds of information about him and his family on
this site! I'd love to correspond with anyone interested in this family.
Name: Loretta Lounsbury Comments: Thanks for clearing up a mystery that has been in our family
for years. We all knew that one of our great aunts put flowers on
someone grave up on West Mt, in the old cemetary behind the ME church.
Thanks to your publishing the diary of George Warner, we now know
that she was putting flowers on the grave of one of her father's best
friend who died in the Civil War. We had been there before we learned
this, trying to figure out a name that would mean something to some
of us but with no luck. Keep up the good work.
Name: Tonya Warner Comments: OH! A treasure! So many of my ancestors are listed on your
site! I also have some info you don't have! If you'd like to update,
please email me! Thanks! This is AWESOME! Tonya Comments: Very informative and easy to negotiate!
Name: John Grafton Comments: Very nice cemetery photos and the layout is supurb. Makes
me jealous |
