My Grandfathers People

This is a 15 page reminiscence of William L. Osterhout written in 1953 when he was 90 years old. It is based on the oral history of how his great-grandfather born in 1766 lived in Knox. William's father moved to Berne. It is a very interesting piece of oral history about the Anti-Rent War set to the written page a century later.

Elihu Doty's Garden

This is a fasinating collection of letters written by Elihu Doty, missionary to Borneo and China, to Jacob Settle between 1830 and 1833.

 

Jean Walton of the New Jersey Postal History Society obtained these letters and quickley realized there was much more to them than the postal history they represented.
