Berne Historical Project, March 2002

Our appearance has changed and our goals have expanded.

We've come a long way in a year. Our original vision was a site that provided a way to present research on the decendents of a collection of Berne families based on the 1866 Beers map. In the past year our scope and vision have expanded significantly. Because of the hard work of our numerous volunteers we been able to go way beyond what was originally envisioned. We now offer a one-stop genealogy source for anyone with a Berne ancestor. In addition we are attempting to assemble, preserve and present the history of the people of this wonderful area.

We are now expanding beyond the website. We felt education Labor Day weekend has been designated by the Town of Berne as Berne Heritage Days. Our volunteers are working hard to provide workshops, lectures, entertainment and cemetery preservations during this weekend.
