Diary of George Warner of Berne, NY - 1862 Index | |||||||||||||||||
George Warner was a young man who lived in Berne and cronicled his dairy life in two diaries. The first of these has been transcribed here and is a fasinating peek into the everyday life in of this young man in 1862. His second diary, "No Sabbath on the Battlefield", is also available on this site and documents his life during 1863 after he enlisted during the Civil War.
In March of 1863 George sketched the Ironclad Essex while in Louisana during the Civil War. He made this sketch in the pages of the 1862 diary which he carried with him during the war.
